Amtrak's National Network

Amtrak trains travel on a 21,000-mile system through 46 states to over 500 destinations, including many of the major US national parks. While most Amtrak long-distance trains either begin or end in Chicago, they all connect to other Amtrak services around the country, making it easy to start and finish any journey at the station closest to your hometown.

Passenger rail is a necessary tool which will help our country recover

“Rail transportation is needed to help define our new normal. Interrupt service now, and you have a ripple effect. Passenger rail is a necessary tool which will help our country recover from the pandemic. The financial repercussions don’t stop at Amtrak’s C-suite door. The Northeast Corridor, long-distance trains, flyover country – all those staffed Amtrak positions, all of the individuals and communities reliant on passenger rail – they bear the brunt of these service reductions.”
